Working on the computer mainframes based out of Montreal, Canada has taught me a lot not only about my company and my role within it, but also a lot about myself. I am so glad that I have the support of EnVille via the amazing fully furnished apartments in Montreal that they have provided for me during this time as well.
I initially took this job in IT and computer engineering because I studied it in college. I chose a computer science major somewhat on a whim and because my college guidance counselor suggested it would be a good choice.
Looking back on my trajectory into computer science and engineering, I realize that none of the decisions I made were made in a vacuum. I have been heavily influenced by my surroundings, and because I felt somewhat apathetic toward everything, I just kind of migrated in this direction.
With this project based out of Montreal, Canada, I have begun to feel a little bit more energy and excitement related to my work. This has been a fairly sizable revelation, as I have never really considered myself to be someone who might actually enjoy what they do for a living.
I honestly can’t place my finger exactly on where or why this shift has occurred, but I am leaning into this newfound feeling and trying to cultivate it more as time goes on. I never would have guessed that a simple computer main frame service gig would ignite something in me that I never thought possible.
I suppose it only helps that I am living in probably one of the best fully furnished apartments in Montreal that I have ever seen! I seriously can’t believe how lucky I got when my company told me that I would be staying with EnVille.
The project itself has been going pretty smoothly, which makes me feel very lucky. I enjoy my teammates and have even been learning a thing or two during this process on a technical level as well.
I am so glad that I have been given the opportunity to come to Montreal, Canada, and work on this computer mainframe, which has allowed me to start feeling so good about my work.
