When I first learned about the new opening position at the zoo in Charlotte NC, I could not contain my excitement because I had been looking for it just this type of position for so long! I didn’t even have to think too long or hard about it, I just booked the first furnished suite in Charlotte I could find from A Home On The Go so that I could make my way out there for an interview straight away.
Up until that point I had started to get a little disillusioned about my prospects in zoology and working with animals overall because there seems to be such a shortage of work going around. Speaking with friends and colleagues and old school mates of mine, it didn’t seem like there were many options to be had by any of us.
Working with animals has always been my true aspiration, after growing up with more than a few animals in my household at all different times, I knew I wanted to continue that lifestyle into the future. And for me I also wanted to understand and explore and learn about even more new kinds of animals in any way I could.
Of course this is what prompted me to go to school for zoology and intern with various veterinary clinics and petting zoos in my hometown. But I never had an opportunity to work with a true zoo like the one in Charlotte NC before.
Having this new opportunity to actually work with animals in a setting that I have always dreamed of was like a wish coming true. What’s more, on top of my dream job I also was able to book a fabulous furnished suite in Charlotte while I got things started.
