Of course you can train to be a barista just about anywhere coffee is sold, but I made it my personal mission to come to Panama City FL to learn the ins and outs of the craft because I have heard that the baristas here are some of the best ever. I have also booked myself a furnished apartment in Panama City FL through the great people at Corporate Accommodations of NW Florida so that I can practice at home and really spend the time necessary to get really good.
I got started on the coffee train when I was in high school and looking for a way to wake up more quickly in the mornings because classes started so early. At first it was purely utilitarian in nature, I didn’t really care what was in it, where it came from, or really what it tasted like, but after a while I started being able to tell the difference in quality. I was somewhat perplexed by this realization because it never occurred to me that coffee could vary quite so much and have such unique characteristics based on things like origin, blend, and roast.
So I guess this curiosity started to pave the way for my growth into the world of coffee and coffee culture, and before I knew it, I was buying new kinds of coffee equipment to use at home to further refine my palette and to better experience the variety of coffees.
I hate to say that I have any kind of favorites when it comes to coffee methods because it really depends on the mood I am in and the style I want to do at any given time. I will say though that I am so happy to have been able to learn all of these different at-home methods.
However, personal research and experimentation only got me so far in my journey and I realized that in order to really level up, I would need to commit to becoming a barista. Hence my trip out to Panama City FL to get started on training.
