Training to be a firefighter has been nothing like I had anticipated before getting into this program and going to Tampa FL to begin my journey. I have immense respect for veteran firefighters and those who have been on the front lines fighting disasters both in urban and rural environments. I have only begun my own journey, but from what I understand of the nature of the work, it really is like facing hell on nearly an everyday basis.
I fully anticipated the training program to be rigorous and intense in order to properly prepare recruits for what was to come in real life. However, there have been some twists and turns in the training process that caught me unaware and have really kept me on my toes as a result.
While these surprises have been challenging, I have come to respect the process even more as a result of this training. In retrospect, believing that I knew even a modicum of what this would entail is pretty laughable!
I have been able to grow in so many unique and unexpected ways. All of this effort and energy is definitely culminating in me beconing a refined professional, who I will be proud to be moving forward with the firefighting community. I want to support my partners and ensure the safety of the public, so I will do whatever it is that I need to do in order to prepare properly.
Because this has been grueling, I cannot explain how thankful I am for the simple comfort that the short term furnished housing in Tampa has provided for me by way of Avenida Suites.
